D CAMP

Description: D Camp is a fun and educational experience designed for newer Pony Clubbers, D1-D3, who do not have Rally experience. Mounted and unmounted campers are welcome! Friday and Saturday the mounted participants will receive lessons in Dressage & Show Jumping, as well as horse management topics. The unmounted participants will be placed on teams with mounted participants and receive unmounted lessons in each of the disciplines as well as horse management topics. Sunday the mounted participants will practice everything that they've learned in the form of a 1-day Rally: riding a dressage test and a show jumping course. Unmounted campers will help their team on Sunday and receive Horse Management lessons. Horse Management is judged and taught throughout the weekend with the goal of teaching new members about the Horse Management portion of a Rally and keeping the participants safe and happy. D1-D3 Certifications are available prior to official rally start time. Requests for taking multiple certifications will try to be accommodated, but the number of candidates will dictate whether those requests can be met.

        12-2pm Arrivals (for those not doing any certifications)

         2pm Official Rally Start Time & Briefing

         3pm-5pm Mounted & Unmounted Instruction

         6pm Dinner

         7pm “Barns Close”

    Saturday –

        7am “Barns Open” Horse & Human Breakfast

9am-5pm Mounted & Unmounted Instruction

12pm Lunch

6pm Dinner

7pm “Barns Close”

    7am “Barns Open” Horse & Human Breakfast

    8am Turnout Inspections Begin

    9am Riding Competition Begins

    9am-12pm Unmounted Instruction & Horse Management Judging

    Team Composition: The teams will be a mix of participants from different clubs to encourage meeting new        friends from throughout the region. Rally organizer will try to compile teams so that they are all a mix of skill levels and/or ages so that no one team has an apparent advantage or disadvantage. 1 Big Sister/Brother will be assigned to each team to serve as a Stable Manager and mentor for the team. Teams will be scored in Horse Management throughout the weekend and riding on Sunday. 

Accomodations: Participants camp with their horses on-site and enjoy group meals. Tent camping is encouraged. RVs/Campers are allowed but no generators are allowed and no hook-ups are available. RVs/campers must park in designated areas. 

Fees: 

  • Mounted Competitor: Includes stabling + 2 bags of shavings, does not include meals - $245

  • Unmounted Competitor, does not include meals: $100

  • Friday Certifications: $15 per section (i.e. D3 HM)

    • Additional Shavings: $10/bag must be purchased ahead of time. No extras will be provided on site for purchase. 

    • Meals: Friday Dinner – Sunday Lunch. $45/person for the entire weekend. Individual meals can be purchased on-site for $10/person per meal pending quantity left after the full weekenders have eaten.

General Info: Stabling is uncovered pipe paddocks. If horse is on site, a responsible adult must stay on site. Mornings and evenings can be foggy, bring warm clothes and possibly blankets for horses. Feed rooms and tack rooms are in trailers. Each team must provide two trailers. Any club sending participants must send 1 member as a Big Sister/Brother and 1 adult volunteer for every 3 camp participants. In addition each team must designate a Chaperone, see the USPC Chaperone Rules/Duties form if you have questions. If your club cannot meet this requirement please contact Nichole. Meals will be provided for free for Big Sisters/Brothers and HM Staff.
