Glass thermometers are no longer permitted in the Equine First Aid kit (HM Newsletter 2013). They have been prohibited because of health hazards associated with a broken mercury thermometer. Digital thermometers are the required type of thermometer. So, before you take off to a Rally be sure that the thermometer in your team's kit is digital and check to be sure that the battery is in working order. Also take this time to take your horse's temperature at rest to fill out your stall card. Need help?
